Boycott Panda Express!

Since at least January 1st, 2026, the Panda Express location inside the Student Union Building on the University of Utah campus has discontinued the Sweetfire Chicken Breast.

We're Bringing It Back.

On top of that, they have been gouging prices, skimping on portion sizes, and closing earlier than ever before. Students are getting shortchanged. Gone are the days of picking up a quick plate to get through the night - you now have to deal with the poorest selections they have for more money and less food.

• Kafe' Mamai

  Delicious African-Caribbean fusion cuisine. This small business deploys a food truck during lunch hours, and has an in-person location in downtown Salt Lake, at the Gallivan Plaza.

  Recommended Items

  1. Jerk Chicken Sandwich

     This sandwich consists of a pita bread wrapping delicious jerk-style chicken. It comes with a healthy serving of fries - sweet potato and regular - and a signature sauce. You get better food, more food, and support small business purchasing here.

  Parked right outside the Union from 10:15 to about 2:00 each day, right in time for a delicious lunch.

• Jeeva's

  Greek food in the Garff Building, close to South Campus. They have a couple of locations - of course, the Garff building, but also the City Creek and Fashion Place mall, among others. A familiar favorite if you frequent those malls!

  1. Lamb Gyro

     This Gyro is make with lamb, tomatoes, feta cheese, and their signature Tzatziki sauce. You can get just the sandwich or have your choice of fries, greek salad, or lemon rice with it.

  2. Souvlaki Stick(s)

     These kebabs come in singles or doubles, in chicken or beef. Delectably seasoned and comes with a pita bread, greek salad, and lemon rice. Served with a side Tzatziki sauce.

  3. Greek Burger

     This classic Greek burger blends a juicy beef patty with their signature Tzatziki sauce. If you can't get enough of the Greek taste, this burger puts a great twist on a classic.

  This business is open from 10:00 to 5:00 in the Garff building. Open almost as late as Panda these days, and a much better option.

• Starley Commons

  A quaint little Café located in the upper Warnock. Serves hand-made sandwiches, soups, and salads (among other items). Has a panini press, coffee machine, microwave, and anything else you'd need to make your perfect breakfast.

  1. Soup

     The variety soups are always a classic warm meal, best for a cold day. They come with a bread roll and crackers, too! The Perfect Chili is a common one to find, but don't hesitate to try out the other soups!

  2. Sandwiches

     With a variety of sandwiches, from turkey croissants to pesto provolone to reubens, and a panini press to boot, these never miss. Also, check out the half and half sandwich/soup combo!

  This business is open from 9:00 to 2:30 in the Warnock Engineering Building, tucked away in a corner of the Catmull Gallery. A great option for breakfast and lunch, and without the lengthy walk from the engineering side of campus to the Union.
